Something Fishy

Our local telephone and internet company KMTS was recently sold to Bell Aliant for twenty-seven million dollars, with a guarantee of keeping the jobs in Kenora. Tbaytel is Thunder Bay’s local telephone and internet service provider and they also wanted in on the action. They offered thirty million dollars, as well as any legal fees the city of Kenora might encounter in NOT selling to Bell Aliant, and offered all the same perks in the deal that Bell was.

Whilst I’ve been mostly appraising of Kenora’s city council, it does beg the question… WHY would the city turn down an extra three million dollars? They had the public meeting one evening, then went and had their own meeting about two hours later to decide.

The fact is, Kenora city council turned down an extra three million dollars and there’s a reason behind it. A forensic audit of Kenora’s Mayor and Council would be done if it were up to me.

In any case… my only hope is now that a large company has KMTS, hopefully the internet service won’t have numerous issues and the cellphone signals will be strengthened.
