An idiotic move

Around the 27th March a 13yr old I know tried to rob a local  petrol station.  He bought a soft-air pellet gun, painted it black and walked into the Husky just down the road from St. Thomas Aquinas School on Valley Drive.  He demanded money from the cashier who promptly said no, and so he walked out and back to school to try and catch the school bus.  How is someone going to bungle a robbery like that, and literally risk being shot dead – and then try to catch the school bus.

According to the story on Kenora Daily Miner and News (which has now been removed), all of the local schools were locked down until the criminal was arrested.

I won’t name him but almost anyone from the school knows who he is and as I’ve learnt from being on Dalles most people I know also know who he is.  Stupid is as stupid does I guess and trying to rob a gas station with a fake gun is stupid.  What’s funny is I don’t think he’s got the maturity to realise if police had of shown up he could have been shot dead quite easily.  Knowing him I would bet that he thought because he was using a fake gun it wasn’t a serious crime and wasn’t technically armed robbery.

I dearly wish he’d been sent to jail – although physically he’s very big, he’s still young and immature and has time to change (although I doubt it will happen).  Jail might teach him a thing or two.
